Hawaii’s Most Cultural & Historical Adventure is Back!! Introducing the Kohala Ditch Adventures. A completely new and ultimate Eco-adventure floating in mountain Kayaks exploring the famed Kohala Ditch System. Our tour begins with a very cool off-road excursion on our custom Pinzgauers to our launch site high in the Kohala mountains. Immersed in a jungle setting, a short hike over a 150 ft. flume overlooking a waterfall and a fascinating earth tunnel is the prelude to our kayak journey.

You board the kayaks and cruise for 2 ½ miles through a Hawaiian rainforest, 10 earth tunnels, water flumes and native flora & fauna. The knowledgeable 5th generation native guides will share genuine history and Hawaiian folklore. Absolutely Amazing! This will truly be the highlight of your vacation. REQUIREMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS: Water shoes, tennis shoes or sandals with a strap are required. NO slippers or flip-flops. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet. Bring with you a change of clothes, towel and waterproof camera! Children from ages 5 - 17 require parent or legal guardian (with legal guardianship letter) to be present. Unable to accommodate expectant mothers, people who have had recent surgery or have chronic back and/or neck problems. Life belts provided. Rentals on shoes, pants and shirts are offered at $5 per item.

Big Island Sunset Cocktail Sail

This tour will bring the wonders and excitement of the Hawaii’s Big Island to life. You will enjoy a fully narrated 260 mile tour that circumnavigates the largest Hawaiian Island. Your tour will take you along the Kona coast to view Kealakekua Bay and visit a Kona coffee plantation where you will sample this flavorful brew. Your Hawaii Volcano Adventure continues with an extensive exploration of the incredible Volcanoes National Park which includes Kilauea Iki crater, steam bluffs, fern tree jungle and Thurston Lava Tube. You will survey the stark, volcanic landscape of the Park from the observatory, and browse Jagger Museum. You will visit an orchid and anthurium nursery, and drive past many cascading waterfalls on the Hamakua Coast. Your tour will travel through Parker Ranch lands, home of the original paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) in Waimea.

Big Island Horseback Ride - Parker Ranch

Experience this historical Parker Ranch horseback ride traveling through the rolling hills to the Stone Corrals. Come and see where it all began, Parker Ranch, where paniolos (cowboys) and horses first met 150 years ago. The ride starts at the Blacksmiths Shop, going on to the breaking Pen, through rolling hills to the Stone Corrals, where as many as 5000 head of Hereford cattle were held after being driven down from the slopes of Mauna Kea. The cattle being driven looked like a river of red moving down the side of the mountain. From there moving on to more historical sites, such as the Red Track where famous Parker Ranch Thoroughbreds were trained and still hold World records for speed.

All ages and riders can be accomodated on this western style Big Island Horseback Ride. Long pants, covered shoes and a camera are recommended. For those in your party who don’t want to ride they can take a moment and go through the Historical Homes tour.

Big Island Horseback Ride & Snorkel Adventure

After mounting the horses, the trail guide will guide you down a winding jungle-like trail, called the Ka`awaloa Trail, down towards the ocean. The horseback ride will allow you to experience beautiful Kona coast & the Kealakeukua Bay area. The trip will take you down an old Hawaiian trail to an unspoiled part of the coastline, where you will swim and snorkel in the crystal clear water if the surf is not too high. While snorkling you will see many varieties of reef fish and beautiful corals.

On this Big Island Horseback ride you will experience the lush vegetation of the Big Island and explore the same lands that the ancient Hawaiians traveled on while they did their daily activities such as gather food and water, and later was where they would meet Captain Cook for the first time!

Big Island Zipline Tour

Ziplining in the North Kohala mountains is an experience you won’t soon forget. The Zipline course is only part of your tour. The drive up the mountain will blow your mind.

You start by hopping in one of our Humvees or a Pinzgauer (a six wheel drive Swiss army vehicle). Our tour begins with a 40 minute off road safari. Sit back and hold on! Once you are on the course you will hike for about 3 minutes to our first zipline. This is our easy line designed to get your “feet wet”; all the rest gets longer and higher. After the second Zipline you will cross our hand carved bridge that sits on top of the beautiful waterfall that you are about to zip across.

Three more ziplines will take you to our “Mac Nut Hut”, a cantilevered pavilion that overlooks a 32’ waterfall. Here you will sit back and talk story while cracking fresh macadamia nuts and eating locally made baked goods and organic fruits. The last two Ziplines are certain to take your breath away with views of A waterfall, Kohala Lighthouse, and Maui.

You will end the 4 hour tour with another off-road safari down the mountainside with an excellent view of whales playing (seasonally) in the ocean

Locally prepared foods are provided by Ka Hana Noeau , A youth mentor ship program. Foods include a homemade Granola energy bar and locally made fruit bread (banana or pineapple), or Lilikoi butter (passion fruit) and crackers. Served with locally grown and harvested organic fruits, fresh cracked macadamia nuts and Aloha drinks.

Big Island ATV Tour - Parker Ranch

Cowboys of Hawaii at Parker Ranch is pleased to announce that we now offer ATV rides as part of our activity program. The ATV’s are fully automatic all terrain vehicles. Safe and easy to operate. No experience necessary. Guests are given orientation and safety demonstrations prior to ride. Helmets are required and provided by operator. Long pants and close toed shoes are recommended. Cowboys of Hawaii ATV rides will take guests on a journey through historical Parker Ranch.
